About the application

Please read the information below before you start your application. This will give you a better idea of how the application process works and what you will need to provide. Please contact our Recruitment Manager for more information at sloan@london.edu. Full descriptions of the application components are given at the end of this page.

Stage 1 – Start the process

Sloan Fellows have many demands on their time. When you have done your research and are ready to start the process please provide a completed application form, essays, CV, academic documents (certificate or transcripts if available), one recommendation and the application fee.

The Admissions Committee will make a shortlisting decision on this information or seek further clarification. We will make a decision for an interview or provide feedback on your candidacy. Following a successful interview the Admissions Committee will work with you to complete the application.

Stage 2 - Timing your application

Deadlines – give yourself time to go through the admissions process and then plan your next steps

Applying early allows you to manage your arrangements with your organisation and if necessary plan your relocation to London. If you need to apply outside of the published deadlines please contact the recruitment team with your request. The preliminary decision takes around 2 weeks, and the time from interviewing to final decision will take 2-4 weeks. The process should take 6-8 weeks in all.

  • Spring 9 March 2017

  • Spring 31 May 2017

  • Summer 26 July 2017*

  • Autumn 13 September 2017

*Candidates who are not UK/EU citizens are advised to apply in no later than 20 July 2017 to be sure of obtaining a visa for entry to the UK.

Please check the scholarship deadlines to make sure of timing.

Stage 3 – Prepare to be a student again

We will provide access to an intranet to support you returning to full time study (and to meet your future classmates and know more about London Business School). The Admissions Committee will assess your application, and may require further evidence to ensure you are ready to study. The Admissions Committee may recommend courses or diagnostics to be completed, as well as pre-programme work to build or hone quantitative or English skills.

Application Requirements:

  • Completed online application form

This is designed to be completed over several sessions. You can save your work as you go and submit this when you are ready. All supporting documents (transcripts, essays, etc.) can be uploaded as you complete the online form.

  • Your application essays

Please download and complete the Sloan MSc essay template. There is one personal statement, two essays and an optional statement to complete. These form an important part of your application, so make sure you spend a significant amount of time on them.

Attach the completed template to the online application form.

  • An organisational chart of your business division showing your position

Supply a chart which clearly shows your position in your organisation. This will help the Admissions Committee understand reporting relationships and team structures.

Attach your chart to the online application form.

  • A one-page CV/resume

Your CV must be no more than one page in length. If you have any significant gaps in your employment history, give your reasons on a separate sheet.

Attach your CV to the online application form.

  • References

Initially you can apply with one recommender, and can select the second recommender when your candidacy decision is made. One referee should be a current or previous manager; the other a colleague, someone else who knows you well at work, or someone else who knows you in a professional capacity. The Admissions Committee appreciate that providing a reference from your current workplace may be sensitive – contact us if you want to discuss your choice of referee.

After you input your referees' details into the online application form, we will send them an email with login details for the online reference system. Please check that they have received this.

London Business School reserves the right to contact your referees for further information in connection with your application.

  • A transcript of grades from each university you have attended

Upload a copy of your academic documents with the application form. These should contain a list of courses completed, grades, degree subject and class ranking (if available). If a transcript is not available please supply a certificate.

If the original transcript is not in English, provide a certified or notarised English translation.

If you do not wish to submit your original transcript, we will accept copies that have been certified by a lawyer or Notary Public at the review stage. We will require an original document before enrolment.

  • Executive Assessment, GMAT or GRE scores

While no tests are required in the initial application, London Business School has developed this diagnostic to assess your readiness for study. It has been calibrated to an executive-level audience, is shorter than the GMAT and focuses on the skills that are appropriate in a business school context. It is designed to be taken with modest (2-3 days) preparation. This supports our understanding of your exceptional strengths and areas to focus on to get the best from your studies as a Sloan Fellow. To find out more, read our admissions blog.

Register to take the Executive Assessment

We will also accept GMAT and GRE scores. Candidates may submit their applications before they have taken any test – these are one of many criteria we use when assessing an applicant. A high score does not guarantee admission, while lower scores do not rule out a candidate. If you have already taken a test and have a valid test score, please contact our team with your test details.

Register to take the GMAT. The GMAT code number for the Sloan MSc is Z11-J7- 18.

  • GMAT Waivers

GMAT can be waived. We will consider GMAT waivers for candidates whose work experience, professional status or prior degree/training indicates a high level of analytical or quantitative ability. Please note that GMAT waivers are given to candidates with a suitable level of seniority and demonstrated academic strength in a quantitative area. Requests for waivers will be considered after candidates have submitted their online application, as part of the application review. The Admissions Committee decides on a candidate's eligibility for a GMAT waiver in all cases. The Admissions Committee may require any candidate to complete an alternative test such as the Executive Assessment or an online course in order to meet the conditions of admission.

  • Proof of English language ability

English language tests may be waived for those who have been working in an English-speaking environment for a substantial amount of time or who have studied at degree level in English. We will accept TOEFL, IELTS, PTE and Cambridge. If you take an English test, please remember to upload your test certificate as part of the application.

  • Application fee

The application fee for the Sloan programme is £160. You pay online after submitting your application. Your application will remain incomplete until we receive the fee. Graduates of London Business School and the University of London do not have to pay the fee.

Candidates recommended by London Business School alumni may not have to pay the application fee. If an alumnus recommends you, they should email sloan@london.edu stating how they know you and what they consider would be your main contribution to a class. This should be sent before you submit your application; please include their details on the application form.

Visa Requirements
