Acacia is an associate at Howden Capital Markets, a recently launched boutique investment bank, which focuses on buy and sell side insurance sector investment. Following her BSc in Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics from Kingston University, London, Acacia was awarded a scholarship for her diploma in financial trading at Divento Financials. Acacia chose to apply for the MiF to grow both professionally and personally. The School attracts the highest calibre of students due to the world-class faculty mixed with the highly specialised electives. She believes a course like the MiF is key to the next step in her career. Acacia is half Irish, half Maori, and sits on the inclusion programme and LGBTQ+ committee at Howden. She is passionate about championing and creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. Outside of work, she enjoys overeating in London’s food playground and holds a level 1 Sommelier certification from WSET. She is also extremely passionate about all sports, having previously represented Ireland in hockey. She also grew up dinghy sailing off the coast of Ireland and more recently, achieved her powerboat RYA level 2 licence.

About me: Catherine joined the LBS Masters in Finance programme at a senior stage in her career in order to open her horizons with the different perspectives of her international cohort, through active discussions, application of her technical knowledge to the prevailing global economic situations and adding value to her profile by learning more about the role of finance and accounting industries in the ESG space.

Catherine is passionate about being able to contribute as a finance professional to steer future investments worldwide towards green initiatives and help all types of investors to have a confidence that their capital is being deployed to make our world a better place.

Her areas of interest are staying active out in nature, such as open-water swimming, trail running and gardening, most of which were picked up during the COVID lockdowns, only to become an essential part of her life. She also enjoys meeting and learning about fellow students who all have a story of their own in their journey through LBS.

Experience

Anna started her career in the London Energy team at Credit Suisse in the Investment Banking Division, where she was involved in numerous M&A transactions across the entire energy sector. After developing a particular interest in oil and gas, Anna joined Genel Energy, where she is currently working as a commercial principal. In her role, Anna is responsible for assessing M&A opportunities globally, providing detailed analysis and strategic recommendations to the executive committee and the board of directors.

Anna joined the Masters in Finance programme at LBS to build on the fundamentals of corporate finance, valuations and accounting that she acquired throughout her work experience, and to widen her finance knowledge through its numerous electives.

Outside the office and LBS, Anna is passionate about charity: she previously successfully organised two cross-border charity art auctions in the UK and Russia, raising £82,000, and she is now looking forward to continuing her charity journey at LBS as part of the Art & Business and Volunteers Clubs.

Anna is also a keen sportswoman: she has been playing competitive tennis since the age of six, representing Charterhouse School as part of the Boys' First tennis team, and later UCL as the captain of the First Ladies’ tennis team.

In addition to being a student ambassador, Anna is also a Women’s Merit Scholarship recipient.

About me: Roland started his career in a local firm in Côte d’Ivoire in 2013 before joining the Deloitte network in Cameroon in 2014 as a financial auditor. He moved to Deloitte Gabon in 2018 as part of the regional talent mobility programme to assist the partners in building a financial advisory practice in Gabon. Though a challenging task, he knew it was the right challenge and path to pursue his professional aspirations.

After nine years of working in sub-Saharan Africa, Roland decided to embrace a more exciting challenge in London and take his career to the next level by gaining a more international experience by joining the LBS MiF programme.

Roland is passionate about finance, particularly transaction services. His focus is on bringing value to his clients and helping prospective investors to make informed investment decision.

Roland also founded in February 2016, a charity group called BetterLife, specialising in assisting in education and feeding of orphaned children in Cameroon. He has also been a member of the Ethics Committee of the Association of CPA of Gabon since 2020.

About me: Selma grew up in Casablanca, Morocco. After successfully completing her French Baccalaureate, she decided to move to the UK. As an international scholar at Bayes Business School (formerly known as Cass), she completed her BSc in Business & Finance, graduating with distinction. In her second year, Selma pursued an internship at HSBC, which enabled her to secure a full-time analyst position. Selma spent three years at HSBC as an analyst and later as an associate, rotating across different areas of the business including relationship management, capital markets and loans origination, as well as other risk teams.

Later, Selma decided to pursue her interest in advising large scale clients to access complex financing solutions and joined the capital structure advisory team at Standard Chartered Bank as an associate. Selma joined LBS as it provided her with a great platform to get the support to move from corporate banking to investment banking, connect with top notch industry peers and access an outstanding education programme. Selma is passionate about helping individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds stand out, as well as providing them with tangible advice to navigate complex organisations. During her spare time, Selma enjoys singing, playing piano and reading about behavioural decision making.

Batin received a BA in Economics with a double major in Political Science from the University of Melbourne, which included an exchange year at Columbia University in New York. He has passed CFA Level II.

He thinks the part-time format is a better choice as it allows him to combine job experience and networking with professionals from various industries. Also, intellectual curiosity is crucial in asset management; selection of both technical and soft MiF electives combined with class discussions support the idea generation efforts in his investment role. He also wants to expand his professional network in London.

In his spare time, Batin enjoys travelling around the world and practising sport activities such as skiing, swimming and tennis.

About me: Joy is a chartered accountant with experience at Crowe, Deloitte, EY and KPMG in Nigeria and the UK. She is driven by a desire to achieve excellence in her profession. She has audited businesses in a wide range of sectors.

Joy is conscious that to become a great leader in the future, she must take action to place herself in that position. She has always embraced the unknown, hoping it would propel her closer to her dreams. She asked herself, "How may I reach my goal?" As a result, she decided to enroll on the Masters in Finance programme. In doing so, she wanted to expand her horizons internationally and become part of a global community of accomplished financial experts. The CFO track and the variety of electives piqued Joy’s interest with their potential to boost her business skills. The prorgamme would also provide her with the best possible chance for future success in her finance career, either the information technology or aerospace industries.

Outside of work and study, Joy has a penchant for daring pursuits, exotic travel and adrenaline-pumping cinema.

Nhlamulo Ndhlovu is a chartered accountant and proud member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. Nhlamulo earned his B Com Honours Chartered Accounting degree from the University of Johannesburg. He is a senior auditor at BDO LLP, a full-service audit and assurance, tax, advisory and business outsourcing firm, servicing companies in all sectors of the economy in central London. He decided to join London Business School to position his career success through the #1 globally ranked Masters in Finance programme. Second to this, the MiF allows him to forge new and diverse networks in one of the most dynamic and connected cities in the world. The Masters in Finance programme will provide him with a wealth of knowledge and expertise delivered by esteemed faculty members. From this, Nhlamulo will broaden his global perspective and learn invaluable technical, practical and transferable skills that will accelerate his finance career.

Nhlamulo is an academic representative for the Masters in Finance programme at London Business School. Further to this, he is also a student ambassador and an active member of the following clubs at London Business School: Volunteers, Black in Business, Out in Business and the Energy & Environment Club. In his recreational time, Nhlamulo can be found exercising at the gym, running, cycling, exploring the world through travel, motor mechanics and keeping abreast of global and financial affairs.

About me: Gwen received her bachelor’s degree from the Hotel School of Lausanne (EHL), during which she specialised in hotel real estate. Directly after her studies, she moved to London to work at Accor in their real estate and asset management team. Afterwards, she spent four years working on hotel acquisitions for a private equity firm. She’s recently joined a newly formed company, called Amante Capital, where she heads up the underwriting team. Amante Capital is focused on investing in and turning around under-performing hotel assets across Europe together with major equity partners.

Gwen decided to pursue a Masters in Finance as she wanted to gain a better understanding of the finance industry as a whole and how the hotel real estate sector sits within it. She is keen to build her professional network at LBS and to sharpen her technical and soft skills.

When Gwen isn’t working or studying, she enjoys travelling, cooking up new recipes and running. She loves living in London and intends to stay for the foreseeable future as she finds it an incredibly dynamic and diverse city with endless new things to experience.

About me: Tom has spent his entire career working within specialty insurance across a variety of companies. After graduating from Durham University with a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics & Economics, he supported multiple lines of business before specialising in the political and credit risk insurance market. He is currently working as an underwriter at HDI Global Specialty SE, a growing specialty insurer within the Talanx Group, a leading European (re)insurance company.

Tom’s motivation for joining the Masters in Finance at LBS is to grow both professionally and personally. Outside of the School’s leading faculty and highly applicable curriculum, there is an emphasis on personal development and the acquisition of soft skills, which drew Tom’s attention. Using the Masters in Finance, he hopes to build strong foundations on financial principles that he can then leverage to enhance his decision making and build on his personal contributions to his company and market. Tom’s passion for LBS led him to be elected Academic Representative for his part time intake.

Outside of work, exercise and strength training take up much of Tom’s time. He follows many sports and is particularly interested in cricket, football and mixed martial arts. He’s a self-certified foody, a real coffee aficionado and a habitual podcast consumer.

Can Poge works in fixed income market making at Citadel Securities. He is responsible for rates distribution for UK real money and central bank clients, with a focus on US interest rate swaps and treasuries. Prior to his current role, Can worked on the EMEA rates sales team at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he held a hybrid role covering hedge funds, bank treasuries and UK-based asset managers across G10 markets.

Can holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree with a minor in Economics from the University of British Columbia. He is also a CFA charterholder.

Can joined the LBS MiF part-time programme as a Merit Scholar in August 2021. He is keen to use his experience to establish new industry connections, hone his knowledge of global finance and add to his technical skill set in areas beyond fixed income.

Jorden M Korte is a real estate private equity professional, responsible for expanding the pan-European product portfolio of PATRIZIA AG, a global real assets investment manager.

Working in a strategic role and with a keen interest in investments, he decided to pursue the part-time Masters in Finance programme at LBS to deepen his expertise in the subject, with a special focus on topics concerning investment management and private markets. Able to join PATRIZIA's London office, he relocated to the UK, allowing him to interact with the LBS community on a continuous basis. He is an active member of several clubs, including the Real Estate Club and Private Equity & Venture Capital Club. Passionate about the real estate industry, Jorden aims to use his broad network to further strengthen the connection between LBS and the industry.

In his spare time, he releases stress and draws energy from CrossFit workouts, hiking, golf and playing the drums.

Jorden was born and raised in a small town near Hamburg, Germany. He received a Bachelors degree in Socioeconomics from the University of Hamburg and is a CAIA charterholder.
