Global Immersion Field Trips (GIFTs)

Join other Early Career students to develop an advanced understanding of international markets.

These stimulating trips sit alongside your campus experience and offer an invaluable opportunity to broaden your understanding of global business culture. A fascinating mix of innovative company visits, simulations, lectures, masterclasses and networking dinners, you’ll network with other Early Career students, faculty, and peers from leading institutions in New York, Silicon Valley, Hong Kong/Shanghai and a range of European destinations. Silicon Valley

"Welcome to the home of digital innovation and entrepreneurship. Visit some of the most iconic global companies, new start-ups, major players in the industry, and develop an understanding of technology start-ups. Learn how to foster these innovative behaviours through a design thinking workshop."

Hong Kong & Shanghai

Explore two key hubs of the world’s power-house global markets. In Hong Kong, experience one of the key finance hubs of the world and explore with companies the challenges that the Asian market faces. Then in Shanghai, in partnership with Fudan University, gain insights into the economy and learn how to approach business in China as you are immersed in a range companies – ranging from heavy industry to innovation hubs.

New York

The newest addition to the GIFT portfolio provides opportunity to witness the finance industry in action. You will connect with our LBS alumni network, visit a variety of companies that employ quantitative analysts and meet asset managers and executives from buy and sell side companies to discuss the challenges facing the industry in a post-2008 world. Attending integrative presentations from researchers will provide insight into the complexity of company valuation in light of recent economic and geo-political developments. You’ll also explore developments in FinTech and hear how market disruptors like blockchain, crowdfunding, and data mining are dramatically changing the industry landscape.

Milan and Munich

Understand how high-end manufacturing and exclusive family businesses deal with challenges – like shifts in consumer demand and expanded regulatory requirements for safety and fuel economy – in the automotive industry. Meet with executives and take away a deeper understanding of the market.

Learn the very best in customer services, what a real customer journey looks like, and gain exposure to the breadth of the area. In the past years visits have included a case study with Disneyland Paris and the Val D’Europe development; a tour of the Hermes store, visits to Canal+ and Bouygues Telecom, and a branding presentation and a cellar visit at Veuve Clicquot.

The GIFT to Barcelona will allow students to get to know one of the most cosmopolitan business capitals in the world, and gateway to Europe for a host of multinationals and Spanish companies. During this trip students will be exposed and will learn about the latest digital and innovation trends, and how they are profoundly transforming sectors such as media, healthcare, clean tech or gastronomy.

A combination of lectures and access to companies will provide a fascinating opportunity for hands-on learning and real-life business challenges. Students will also have the chance of interacting with peers and immersing into a fascinating culture.

*Please note that since this is a new GIFT it is a work in progress and details of the visits are subject to change.
