LBS Sloan alumnus Dean Jones powers StirlingX to $20m Series A
LBS Sloan alumnus Dean Jones leads StirlingX to $20m Series A

London Business School is celebrating the success of alumnus Dean Jones (Sloan Fellows, Leadership, Strategy and Finance 2018), whose company StirlingX has secured a $20m (£15m) Series A investment to accelerate the development of its sovereign data intelligence and autonomy platform. The funding follows a period of exceptional growth for the business, taking total capital raised to $32m in just 18 months.
The investment, led by Ventura Capital alongside existing investors including RCM Private Markets Master Fund and GALLOS Technologies, will support StirlingX's expansion across defence and critical national infrastructure. Chaired by former GCHQ Director Sir Jeremy Fleming, the company develops technology that enables organisations to securely capture, fuse and act on high-value data in complex operating environments.
Jones has maintained a close relationship with London Business School since graduating, regularly engaging with faculty and the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Private Capital to explore mentoring opportunities and share the company's rapid growth journey with the LBS community. In response to the funding announcement, Executive Director Jane Khedair described the news as "Amazing" and confirmed plans to share the story across the School, while Professor Luisa Alemany welcomed "a great opportunity for sharing the news about this raise."
Reflecting on his journey, Jones has previously credited the Sloan programme with shaping his leadership approach as he transitioned from a career in UK Special Forces through investment management and entrepreneurship to building one of the UK's fastest-growing dual-use technology companies. He has also expressed his commitment to giving back to the School through mentoring and supporting the next generation of founders.
Jones' success reflects a defining strength of the London Business School community: alumni applying global business education to build ventures that address complex, real-world challenges. As StirlingX enters its next phase of growth, the achievement stands as another example of LBS graduates leading innovation at the intersection of technology, entrepreneurship and global impact.
