LBS professors rank among the world’s best
Arianna Marchetti and Jean Pauphilet have been named as two of the most talented young professors currently teaching on an MBA programme

London Business School (LBS) Assistant Professors Arianna Marchetti and Jean Pauphilet have been recognised by Poets & Quants (P&Q) in the 13th edition of its annual list of ‘40 Under 40 Best MBA Professors’.
Each year P&Q recognises MBA professors under the age of 40 who are masters in the classrooms, influence business and policy, are prolific researchers, and who have demonstrated meaningful impact on their fields.
Dr Marchetti, Assistant Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship, teaches across LBS’s MBA, executive MBA, and PhD programmes, focusing on strategic management in the digital era and strategy analytics. Her research offers new insights into how organisations achieve coordination of and cooperation between their employees. In her work, she explores how emerging technologies shape hierarchies by asking, for example, how AI can be integrated into decision-making processes through collaborative structures. She also studies the role of organisational culture, developing novel methods to measure culture at scale.
Dr Pauphilet, Assistant Professor of Management Science and Operations, teaches Business Analytics in the School’s MBA programme. His award-winning research develops new algorithms for machine learning and decision-making, and implements them to solve healthcare and sustainable operations problems. His work in healthcare operations has helped hundreds of healthcare professionals to anticipate future patient needs and make better decisions. Similarly, his work with a Dutch NGO has helped plastic waste to be collected from the oceans faster.
Professors on this year’s list come from 39 different business schools. LBS is one of 16 schools outside of the United States. Arianna is one of 14 exceptional women to be chosen to feature in this year’s list.
Overall, Poets & Quants received more than 1,700 nominations from students, colleagues, administrators, and professors themselves. P&Q’s editorial staff evaluated each nominee on teaching (given a 70% weight) and research (given the remaining 30% weight).
