Ravan Namazov (he/him)

Education: Bachelors, Azerbaijan State University of Economics, Azerbaijan; graduated in 2024

Subject: Finance

Sector(s) of interest: Investment Banking, Investment Management, Deal Advisory, Consulting

My greatest challenge when I applied to business school: Applying in the final round of programmes and struggling to decide whether to go for it or not.

About me: I was born and raised in Azerbaijan and am currently pursuing the MFA programme at LBS as a recipient of the Pentland Scholarship. Before LBS, I gained two years of experience at KPMG Azerbaijan in the deal advisory and valuation team, alongside internships in local banks and the Sovereign Wealth Fund of Azerbaijan’s risk management department. I worked on high-value transactions worth billions, business valuations, synergies and fixed-asset appraisals across sectors, including banking, fintech, agriculture, technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) and insurance.

During my undergraduate years, I actively competed in business case competitions and research challenges, winning most of them. I gained real-world problem-solving and stock pitching experience in front of investment professionals.

Beyond academics, one of my core values is contributing to society. I have mentored hundreds of students in Azerbaijan, helping them secure internships and professional opportunities, while also engaging in volunteering activities to support underprivileged communities. This passion for giving back inspired me to become an LBS student ambassador.

Outside of finance, I enjoy playing chess, guitar, cooking and exploring the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I’m always up for a chess game on Chess.com or a conversation about music, films or food.

Three topics I can be approached about: LBS applications; case competitions; career development.
