My greatest challenge when I applied to business school: Coming from a non-traditional background, I thought business school would be out of reach, but when I chatted over coffee with 20 alumni from London Business School, I knew the School was the right fit for me.
About me: I grew up in Mandalay, Myanmar, and moved to London to pursue my undergraduate degree in biochemistry at University College London. While my academic background gave me a strong foundation in scientific and analytical thinking, I became increasingly interested in entrepreneurship and the role businesses can play in creating meaningful impact.
During my undergraduate studies, I gained experience working with early-stage startups and on projects focused on growth strategy, market analysis and venture development. These experiences gave me first-hand exposure to the realities of building and scaling businesses. It deepened my interest in entrepreneurship and shaped my ambition to pursue strategy consulting to help founders and growing organisations turn ideas into sustainable growth.
I am a proud recipient of the Laidlaw Foundation Scholarship, awarded for leadership and academic excellence.
Education has always been central to the impact I hope to create. In Myanmar, I built an affordable tutoring initiative and supported 22 girls in continuing their education despite financial hardship. Seeing the difference that access to education can make strengthened my commitment to creating more opportunities for young people in Myanmar. I chose the MiM programme at London Business School to turn ambition into impact, sharpening the strategic and entrepreneurial skills I need to build and scale meaningful ventures.
I love travelling. Outside academics, I enjoy yoga, long walks in Regent’s Park, reading psychology books, and exploring small English towns to experience different cultures and perspectives. At London Business School, what I value most is the opportunity to learn from people whose backgrounds, experiences and ways of thinking differ from my own, and to broaden my perspective through those connections.
Three topics I can be approached about: Transitioning from STEM to business school; impact and social entrepreneurship; balancing academics with extracurriculars.
