My greatest challenge when I applied to business school: Navigating the uncertainty of choosing the right programme and determining which school would best support my long-term goals.

About me: I was born in Mississippi, raised in Florida, and have lived in several regions across the US. I attended boarding school at The Taft School in Connecticut before moving to Dallas, Texas, where I studied Markets and Culture at Southern Methodist University, with minors in Business and Chinese.

After graduating, I moved to New York City and spent two years working for my family’s real estate development company as a third-generation family member. Growing up around the business, and later working within it, gave me invaluable real-world experience and confirmed my interest in real estate and entrepreneurship. At the same time, it showed me the importance of looking beyond familiar environments and expanding my perspective, which was one of the primary reasons I was drawn to the GMiM programme.

I have always valued being surrounded by people whose experiences and backgrounds differ from my own. I wanted an environment that would challenge the way I think and expose me to new cultures and approaches to business. Having studied Chinese, the opportunity to spend a year at London Business School, followed by a year at Fudan University in Shanghai, offered exactly the international exposure I was seeking.

I am excited to continue challenging myself, learning from those around me and discovering where the GMiM experience will take me.

Three topics I can be approached about: Choosing the GMiM and dual-degree experience; moving internationally and adjusting to London; careers in real estate, family business and investing.
