“A product manager’s role is not to have all the answers, but to ask the right questions.”

As someone who enjoys solving problems and continuously learning, I wanted to strengthen my strategic thinking while gaining practical frameworks for product development, and cross functional collaboration. I saw the LBS Online course, Product Management – Strategy and Innovation, as an opportunity to broaden my perspective, complement my background in finance and management, and equip myself with skills that are increasingly valuable across industries and mainly banking.

Originally from Dubai, UAE, I hold a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Zayed University and have furthered my Executive Education through the programme for Management Development at IESE Business School where I was the youngest graduate ever to complete this program. Beyond my professional journey, I enjoy embracing new adventures, staying active, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. One of my greatest passions is exploring new cities and experiencing different cultures, as it broadens my perspective, strengthens my adaptability, and continually shapes the way I connect with people and approach both personal and professional opportunities.

“I wanted to deepen my understanding of how successful products are developed, managed, and scaled in today's fast evolving digital landscape.”

“My primary learning goal was to build a stronger and more structured foundation in product management that I could apply directly to my role, while developing into a more experienced and well-rounded product professional.”

The goal for me was to strengthen my approach to product strategy by making more informed decisions, evaluating market needs alongside technological capabilities, and creating banking products and initiatives that deliver long term value for both customers and the business. Additionally, I wanted to equip myself with the right frameworks and mindset to navigate the fast-evolving digital landscape, particularly as technologies such as AI continue to reshape how products are designed, managed, and improved. My goal was to gain the knowledge and confidence needed to drive meaningful innovation, prioritise effectively, and contribute greater value to our product ecosystem.

Throughout the course, I strengthened my strategic thinking and decision-making capabilities, particularly when navigating uncertainty and balancing competing priorities. As the leader of a team of four, I also developed a stronger approach to leading and empowering others by aligning the team around shared objectives, encouraging collaboration, and making more structured, customer focused decisions. The course reinforced the importance of influencing stakeholders across different functions, using data to support decisions, and leading product initiatives with greater confidence and clarity.

I have already begun applying several of the frameworks to my work, particularly while developing a new product from the ground up. Using a time-based roadmap has brought greater structure to the product journey, from defining the opportunity and understanding customer needs to developing and validating an MVP before committing to scale.

I have also strengthened how I evaluate product performance and commercial viability, particularly through metrics such as Customer Lifetime Value (LTV) and Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC). Together, these approaches are helping me make more informed product decisions, balancing customer value and acquisition costs with the need for sustainable growth and wider business objectives.

“Bring an open mind and be ready to challenge your thinking, beyond what it is and what it can be.”

“The practical frameworks in this course gave me a clearer approach to product decisions, helping me create greater value for both customers and the business.”

The modules I found most valuable were those focused on product strategy and decision making. Learning how to assess technologies for value creation, understand the product lifecycle, and apply frameworks such as one-way versus two-way door decisions and jobs-to-be-done gave me practical tools that I can immediately apply in my role.

Something that also really kept me engaged and I found very insightful were the sections on product messaging, as they reinforced the importance of understanding customer needs, communicating value effectively, and collaborating across teams to deliver successful product outcomes. These frameworks have given me a more structured approach to building, evaluating, and growing products.

Understanding how to move ideas into meaningful outcomes, while exploring how emerging technologies such as Generative AI are reshaping the way products are built and managed - that was a gamechanger for me. In conclusion, the course is not limited to a single industry but rather a broader perspective where you will network with others and expand your way of product thinking.

I'd recommend approaching it with an open mind and a willingness to challenge your thinking. The course goes beyond product delivery and helps you develop a more strategic approach to product management from turning ideas into MVPs and scalable solutions to making better prioritisation decisions and navigating uncertainty.
