Andrew Schaefer

Professor Andrew Schaefer's research focuses on stochastic optimisation, inverse optimisation, and integer programming. His work contributes to advancing computational methods and their applications to complex operational and management challenges.

Professor Schaefer is visiting London Business School as a Visiting Professor from his position as Noah Harding Chair and Professor of Computational Applied Mathematics and Operations Research at Rice University. Throughout his career, he has been deeply engaged in mentoring and developing the next generation of researchers, having advised or co-advised 25 PhD students and supervised 15 post-doctoral fellows. He is also actively involved in the academic community, serving as Area Editor for the Societal Impact Department of Operations Research and having previously served as Associate Editor for leading journals including Management Science and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management.

Professor Schaefer's research has been supported by substantial federal funding, with principal investigator or co-principal investigator roles on 18 peer-reviewed US federal grants. His distinguished career reflects his significant contributions to operations research and computational mathematics.
