This privacy notice is intended to provide specific information to alumni (“you”, “your”) of London Business School (“School”, “we”, “our”, “us”), covering how we collect, use, and share your personal data.
This notice relates to the School using any personal information we hold about you following the completion of your studies. This notice should be read in conjunction with the School’s Student privacy notice, Website privacy notice, and Cookie notice, which provide further information about how the School uses your personal data and tracking technologies more generally.

We may collect your personal data in a number of ways, including:

We may collect the following types of personal data about you after you graduate:
Personal data you provided during your time as a student at the School, which we continue to process as part of your alumni record. For more information, see section 3 of the Student privacy notice.
Programme details, graduation details and year.
Information about your participation in alumni activities and related services, such as events, volunteering, mentoring, fundraising, and lifelong learning opportunities. This includes data you submit via donation forms, event bookings, or surveys. We will only collect the data necessary to process your request (and any ongoing benefit in relation to the services we provide), and will indicate which fields are mandatory at the point of collection.
Details of your interactions with the School, including communication preferences, event registrations, donations, and alumni activities. These touchpoints may be recorded on your alumni record to help us understand and support your relationship with the School.
Images and recordings, captured at events, webinars, via School platforms and CCTV (including body worn cameras) taken on LBS premises after you have graduated.
We may also collect and process sensitive personal data, including:
information concerning your health and medical conditions (for example, to make reasonable adjustments for events or services, and/or for equality monitoring);
information about relevant criminal convictions or offences (for example, where you let us know about an unspent conviction as part of the self-disclosure process).
This will only be undertaken where and to the extent it is necessary for a lawful purpose in connection with your continued relationship with the School.
Please note that if you fail to provide information when requested, which is necessary for us to offer you alumni services (such as updated work history or contact details), we may not be able to process your request.
We may also collect information about how you use our websites, mobile apps, social media platforms and other online services. This includes device information and unique online identifiers such as IP addresses. For more information, please refer to our Cookie notice.
We use your personal data to support your continued relationship with the School and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations. This includes:
Alumni Engagement and Services
Maintaining your alumni record and contact preferences
Inviting you to reunions, networking events, and lifelong learning opportunities
Providing access to alumni benefits, services, and platforms
Supporting your access to campus facilities, including the Alumni Centre, the School library, and the gym. Access is subject to School policies and notices and may require registration or identification.
Sharing news, updates, and opportunities relevant to your interests
Communications, Marketing and Publicity
Sending newsletters, surveys, and invitations to participate in School initiatives
Personalising communications based on your preferences and interactions
Capturing photographs or videos at events that may include your image or voice, for use in School marketing and publicity materials
Fundraising, Alumni Clubs and Volunteering Roles
Inviting you to support the School through donations
Managing your engagement with fundraising campaigns and philanthropic initiatives
Supporting your involvement in alumni clubs and volunteering activities, such as mentoring, interviewing prospective students, speaking at events, or interacting with your class for Reunions.
Wealth Screening, Profiling and Research
We may analyse your engagement history and publicly available data to tailor communications and fundraising approaches. For more information, please refer to Section 7: Wealth Screening, Profiling and Research
Conducting alumni surveys, evaluations and producing statistics to evaluate impact, support internal improvement, sector reporting and strategic planning.
Supporting research activities conducted by the School or in collaboration with partners, where the use of personal data is necessary and proportionate.

We rely on the following legal bases to process your personal data:
Contract: It is necessary to deliver alumni services you have requested.
Legitimate Interests: It is necessary for our or a third party's legitimate interests. Our "legitimate interests" include our charitable objectives and operating the School in a professional, sustainable manner, in accordance with our Charter, Statutes and Ordinances (including, for example, alumni relations, marketing the School and its services, events and resources and analysing our recruitment and marketing activities in order to determine their effectiveness). We consider and balance any potential impact on you and your rights when relying on this basis.
Recognised Legitimate Interest It is necessary for safeguarding, responding to emergencies, and ensuring the security of our systems and premises. These activities are recognised as legitimate interests under the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 and do not require a balancing test.
Legal Obligations It is necessary to comply with applicable laws and regulations. For example,
Providing data to relevant statutory bodies such as the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) and JISC.
Ensuring equality of opportunity and compliance with sector-wide diversity and inclusion reporting.
Public Interest: It is necessary for tasks carried out in the public interest. This includes, for example, maintaining records of your qualifications, supporting academic research, and contributing to sector benchmarking and quality assurance exercises.
For the purposes set out in this privacy notice, and relying on the legal bases for processing as outlined above, we may share your personal data with the following third parties:
Members of staff, agents and contractors, where there is a legitimate reason for their receiving the information. This includes third-party service providers engaged to support alumni services, communications, and related operations.
Educational partners, where relevant to your engagement with the School. This includes collaborative events, joint programmes, and activities delivered in partnership with other institutions.
Alumni volunteers, where we have engaged them to conduct interviews and/or provides feedback and/or support mentoring, event participation, or other alumni-related activities.
Donors, where you have applied for a scholarship or those who donate to the School or fund scholarships and awards, where relevant to your engagement or participation in donor-supported activities.
Relevant authorities when the School is legally required to do so (by a court, government body, law enforcement agency or other authority of competent jurisdiction).For example, the Home Office.
Regulatory and sector bodies, including the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) as set out above. For more information on how HESA processes personal data, please refer to the

International transfers
While most personal data is stored and processed within the UK, some data may be transferred to countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA). For example, this may occur if a partner organisation’s servers are located outside the EEA. These countries may not have data protection laws equivalent to those in the UK; however, we will take appropriate steps to ensure that your data is protected in accordance with UK data protection law.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
We may assess your personal data to help ensure that our communications and services are relevant to your interests and engagement with the School. This includes reviewing the events and activities you have attended or expressed interest in, and tailoring the content, frequency, and delivery channels of our communications accordingly. These profiling activities also help us understand the collective interests and expectations of our alumni community, informing future planning for events, services, and fundraising appeals.
Where appropriate, we may use publicly available sources - such as Factiva, Mint, and FT Online - to understand your potential interest in and ability to support the School through philanthropic giving. We may also consider your giving history within the School and other organisations, as well as your broader philanthropic interests. These screening and research activities may be conducted manually or through automated processes.

Please note that when seeking or accepting major donations, the School is required to undertake appropriate due diligence to protect its reputation and ensure that donations align with our values and purpose.
Keeping your personal data up-to-date
We encourage our alumni and friends to keep their personal data up-to-date, particularly employment details, contact information, and communication preferences. This helps ensure that you receive relevant updates, invitations, and opportunities aligned with your interests and engagement with the School.

Updates are securely processed and immediately reflected in the School’s central database.
To support data accuracy and engagement, the School operates a three-year update cycle. As part of this process, we may contact you periodically to confirm or update your contact details and preferences. As a graduate business school, we are interested in the impact our alumni have on the world of business. Where appropriate, we may also track your career development and invite you to update your employment information.
Managing external marketing and fundraising communications
In addition to managing your preferences with the School, you can choose to:

These services provide additional ways to control how your personal data is used for direct marketing and fundraising purposes.
While our alumni services are not designed for, or intentionally targeted at, children aged 16 or under, we may collect and process limited personal data about children in specific contexts. This may include information about children shared by alumni when engaging with our services, attending events, or participating in research activities.
For example, alumni may bring children onto our premises, to our events, refer to them in communications with the School, or discuss them when taking part in research studies. Where relevant, this information may be recorded in the alumni record to support engagement and service delivery by the Advancement directorate. We do not communicate directly with children or use their data for marketing or profiling purposes.
We apply appropriate safeguards when processing children’s data, in line with UK GDPR and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. This includes ensuring that any processing is fair, proportionate, and aligned with the expectations of our alumni. Where required, we will provide additional privacy information and assess risks through our data protection processes.
We consider alumni relationships to be lifelong. As such, we may retain core information such as your name, class, graduation year, and LBS ID indefinitely, and a record of any donations you have made, even if you request erasure of other personal data. This ensures we can maintain accurate historical records and support your ongoing engagement.
