The SARI Foundation Institute for Work, Careers and Longevity

Working lives are getting longer. How we build careers, organise work and support people throughout their working lives needs to change.

Led by Academic Co-Directors Professor Lynda Gratton and Professor Herminia Ibarra, the SARI Institute at London Business School conducts and supports research on work, careers and longevity—and brings its findings to wider audiences to inform individual choices, organisational practice and public policy.

Research that operates at three levels

Most research focuses on one part of the picture. The SARI Institute considers all three together, in a single, integrated view.

Work

Understanding how work is changing and how that affects people and organisations.

Careers

Navigating non-linear careers across working lives that may span six decades.

Organisations

Redesigning talent systems for a workforce whose careers no longer follow the old script.

Think

Professor Herminia Ibarra discusses career change and identifies reinvention as part of a long working life. She reveals that small experiments, new experiences and relationships help us discover possibilities that reflection alone cannot reveal.
