Yuhang Du joined London Business School as a doctoral student in Management Science and Operations in 2021. Her research develops operational policies that improve fairness and efficiency in maternal and perinatal care delivery. It combines optimization, queueing theory, and statistical modeling, with applications across both low- and high-income health systems. Her work includes assignment guidelines for maternity waiting homes in rural Liberia, scheduling rules for elective Caesarean sections in the UK National Health Service (NHS), and deployment plans for portable AI ultrasound in rural Kenya. Field engagement is central to her work: she collaborates closely with Liberia's Ministry of Health and clinical partners in the NHS, and develops tools that are used in practice by her field partners.
Prior to her PhD studies, she earned a B.S. in Information Management and Information Systems from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in China. She also worked for Cardinal Operations (Shanghai Office) as an algorithm engineer intern.
