London Business School (LBS) alumnus Sameer Aggarwal has been made chief business officer (CBO) of Walmart India. Aggarwal, who joined the company as chief strategy and administrative officer in April, will step into the expanded business role with immediate effect.

As CBO, he will lead strategy, merchandising, cost analytics, e-commerce, technology, marketing and replenishment. He continues to report directly to Krish Iyer, President and CEO of Walmart India.

Prior to joining Walmart India, Aggarwal was chief finance, development and supply chain officer for KFC, Thailand. Before that role, he worked with Sainsbury’s in the UK and China as head of strategy and executive assistant to the CEO. He also worked with McKinsey & Co, UK and Australia, as an associate partner.

Aggarwal holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from LBS and is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Walmart India’s Iyer said of Aggarwal’s appointment: “Sam joined Walmart India in April this year and within a short period of time he has developed a great understanding of our company and our culture.

"He has already made very good contributions to the business and also developed strong relationships internally and externally. He brings an international and strategic perspective to our business in India. His experience of supporting the governance functions at Walmart India will help us grow further in the right way."
