Professor Alex Edmans recognised by Thinkers50 Radar list

Thinkers50, the global ranking of top management thinkers, has named Alex Edmans, Professor of Finance at London Business School (LBS), among its Radar list for 2020. Alex is also Academic Director of LBS’s Centre for Corporate Governance.
The objective of the Thinkers50 Radar is to “bring an eclectic and compelling group of thinkers to the attention of the broader audience of managers and leaders in organisations worldwide”. This year, just 30 people were selected for the list of thinkers to watch.
Thinkers50 typically features influencers in organisational behaviour and strategy; it is rare for scholars in finance or economics to be featured. Nevertheless, Professor Edmans was singled out by Thinkers50 as being a “fresh voice on finance and investment strategies – and more”.
He was recognised, in particular, for his contribution to responsible business, noting his TED talk: What to Trust in a Post-Truth World and his TEDx talk, The Social Responsibility of Business, with over 2 million combined views. Thinkers50 also highlighted his new book, Grow the Pie: How Great Companies Deliver Both Profit and Purpose (published in March 2020).
Commenting on the award, Professor Edmans said:
“I’m passionate about applying the insights of rigorous research to real-world problems, and so am truly grateful to have been recognised for contributing to a practitioner audience. This award further stimulates my drive to work on reforming capitalism to serve wider society, not just shareholders – and using solutions based on evidence rather than hunches."
The Thinkers50 identifies, ranks and shares leading management ideas and has affiliations around the world drawing nominations from a global audience. The organisation aims to provide access to ideas which "have the power to make the world a better place".
