London Business School remains the top

This is the highest rating achieved by any department of business and management.
The REF is conducted jointly by the higher education councils for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The aim of the exercise is to assess the quality and impact of UK higher education institutions' research in all disciplines. All the research submitted to the REF is rated 4* (world-leading), 3* (internationally excellent), 2* (internationally recognised), 1* (nationally recognised) or 0 (unclassified).
The REF rules allow institutions to select which of their faculty members to enter for assessment. We chose to submit them all – in line with the School’s belief that engaging in world-leading research is a fundamental requirement for all faculty. The evaluation is therefore testament to the uniformly high quality of London Business School faculty.
The School’s REF submission was led by a task force consisting of Madan Pillutla (London Business School Term Chair Professor of Organisational Behaviour), James Dow (Professor of Finance), David P Myatt (Professor of Economics; Chair, Economics Faculty), Rosemary Vipond (Director, Research and Faculty Office) and Christine Wilson (Secretary).
Madan Pillutla, chair of the taskforce, said: "creating world-class research that directly influences business leaders, policy makers and other researchers across the world is what we do at the School. These rankings show that we do this very well."
