Masters in Management puts School at the top of FT ranking

London Business School has topped the Financial Times European business school ranking. 

Of the 80 schools ranked, London Business School achieved the highest overall score across its degree and executive education programmes.

Professor Sir Andrew Likierman, Dean, London Business School, said: “We have always been in the top three of this particular ranking, not least because of the long-standing number one position in Europe of our MBA programme. This year the ranking reflects, in particular and for the first time, our Masters in Management. It also reflects our Executive Education rank.”

Unlike the other rankings produced by the Financial Times, the European edition ranks the overall performance of business schools rather than their programmes. Scores are combined and indexed from across the range of Financial Times rankings, including the MBA, Executive MBA, Masters in Management, and open and custom Executive Education programmes.

Della Bradshaw of the Financial Times wrote: “London Business School, which tops the 2014 European business school rankings, has also been the top European business school in the Global MBA ranking for 10 years. But it is the school’s one-year masters in management for “pre-experience” students, rather than its two-year MBA, that has catapulted the school to the top of the table.

“Launched in 2010, the MiM was eligible for the ranking of these degrees for the first time this year. LBS’s programme entered the ranking at number 10 in the world. Because the European ranking allocates 25 per cent of its points to the quality of schools’ MiMs, this ensured LBS took the crown as the top business school in Europe.”
