LBS MBA student receives AQR Scholar Award 2016
Andrea Turrini, an MBA student from London Business School, has been awarded the AQR Scholar Award 2016.
Andrea Turrini received the inaugural AQR Scholar Award at the annual Asset Management Conference hosted by the London Business School student-led Investment Management Club. It is the first of three AQR Scholar Awards to be granted in 2016.
The award, which recognises outstanding academic performance and includes a prize of £10,000, was presented by Lasse Pederson, Principal at AQR Capital Management, and Narayan Naik, Professor of Finance and Academic Director, AQR Asset Management Institute, London Business School.
Narayan Naik, Professor of Finance and Academic Director, AQR Asset Management Institute, London Business School, said: “We are delighted to present Andrea with the first AQR Scholar Award. In addition to an excellent academic record, Andrea has demonstrated great leadership through Co-Presidency of the Finance Club and having built important links between London Business School and the Italian business community. We believe he has the potential to make a great impact on the finance industry.”
Andrea Turrini, MBA 2016, London Business School, said: “I am very grateful to AQR for this award, especially given the high calibre of people who study at London Business School every year. It’s an honour to be recognised for the skills I have developed through the MBA, and for making an impact on the community. I thank the School too for everything I have learned on this wonderful journey.”
Runners up Lucy Hancock and Teodor Simeonov, also MBA students at London Business School, were both recognised at the conference too. All three students will graduate from the full-time MBA programme at London Business School in summer 2016.
Recipients of the award are required to demonstrate outstanding academic performance, good citizenship and the potential to make a significant future impact on the investment industry.
Two further awards will be granted in summer 2016, identifying future asset management talent from London Business School’s Masters in Finance, Executive MBA and Sloan degree programmes.
The AQR Scholar Awards are one of a series of prizes awarded by the AQR Asset Management Institute to advance excellence in asset management among students and young researchers.
