London Business School academic wins finance competition

1650London Business School's Assistant Professor of Finance, Samuli Knupfer, has jointly won the 4nations Cup at a competition bringing together some of the finest minds in financial economics.

Professor Knupfer, representing Great Britain together with Stavros Panageas from the London School of Economics, triumphed in the 2013 4Nations Finance Competition, beating off competition from France, Sweden and Switzerland.

The 2013 competition, which took place at London Business School on Friday 3 May, features promising young scholars in financial economics in one day of 'mini seminars'.

The 40-minute talks are given by candidates from four nations that are a short flight away from one another, with each nation nominating two lead candidates.

The audience votes for the candidates and the nation with most points receives the cup.

Professor Knupfer's winning paper was titled Human Capital and Portfolio Choice: Evidence from the Finnish Great Depression.

London Business School Associate Professor of Finance, Vikrant Vig, won the cup last year.
