LBS students help move the dial on Impact Investing

LBS MBA students claim victory at the 2024 IESE-Arcano Impact VC Investing Competition

London Business School MBA Class of 2025 students Munir Tawfique, Tim O’Connell, Diva Vaish, Rhydian Harris, and Rakesh Mistry were crowned winners of the 2024 IESE-Arcano Impact VC Investing Competition, which took place at the IESE Campus in Barcelona recently.

The LBS team impressed judges from renowned impact asset managers including Arcano and Blue Orchard with their knowledge of venture investing and climate technology. The judges determined that the team’s chosen startup Crowmie, a crowdfunding platform for financing renewable solar energy projects, was the venture that could best drive impact and deliver returns to investors. The team’s investment memo and live deal negotiation with the founder of Crowmie saw them triumph over eight other prestigious European and Asian business schools to take home the top prize.

As stakeholders across businesses look to incorporate more human, environmental, and more broadly ESG considerations into their operations, our LBS team was able to prove that Venture Capital as an asset class can deliver not only shareholder returns, but also address critical societal issues.
