LBS PhD student is awarded a Global Google Fellowship

Alireza Amanihamedani has received the Fellowship for his work in the field of algorithms and optimisation

Alireza AmaniHamedani, a PhD candidate in Management Science and Operations at London Business School, has been awarded a Global Google PhD Fellowship for his work in Algorithms and Optimisation.

The 2025 Global Google PhD Fellowships recognise outstanding graduate students who are conducting exceptional and innovative research in computer science and related fields, specifically focusing on candidates who seek to influence the future of technology.

The programme provides vital direct financial support for their PhD pursuits and connects each Fellow with a dedicated Google Research Mentor, reinforcing Google’s commitment to nurturing the academic community.

Commenting on his delight at receiving the Global Google PhD Fellowship, Alireza said: “I am deeply honoured and grateful for this recognition. Google’s generous support will enable me to continue advancing research at the intersection of operations, computer science and economics, to design and optimize better marketplaces in an era where artificial intelligence is transforming how markets work.

“I am thankful to London Business School for providing the ideal environment for my research and I owe my deepest gratitude to my wonderful PhD advisor, Ali Aouad, and my amazing mentors and co-authors, Amin Saberi and Daniel Freund, whose continuous guidance and support made this achievement possible.”
