LBS expert handed new award for case writing excellence
Jérémie Gallien wins case writing category at ecch Case Awards
Jérémie Gallien, Associate Professor of Management Science and Operations, London Business School, has won the new case writer category at the 2012 ecch Case Awards Competition. The ecch Case Awards recognises excellent case writing worldwide and raises the profile of the case method of learning.
The award-winning case study, Massachusetts General Hospital's Pre-Admission Testing Area, was co-authored by Dr. Gallien, Kelsey McCarty of Massachusetts General Hospital and Retsef Levi of MIT Sloan School of Management.
The competition attracted entries of 64 cases from 57 institutions in 27 countries. His research focused on the pre-admissions testing area, which is an outpatient clinic at Massachusetts General Hospital, responsible for conducting pre-operative assessments of surgical patients prior to their procedures.
This case study exposes students to concrete operational challenges in health care delivery and illustrates the application and potential benefits of quantitative process analysis and process reengineering in this environment.
