Faculty co-authored paper named Article of the Decade

The Academy of Management has named a paper co-authored by Herminia Ibarra, Charles Handy Professor of Organisational Behaviour at London Business School (LBS), its Academy of Management Learning & Education (AMLE) Article of the Decade as part of its 2021 Publication Awards.

Taking Gender Into Account: Theory and Design for Women's Leadership Development Programs’ by Professor Ibarra, Robin J. Ely (Harvard Business School) and Deborah M. Kolb (Simmons College School of Management) appeared in the September 2011 edition of the journal, AMLE.

It examined leadership development through the frame of identity work to demonstrate the impact of gender bias, within organisations and culturally, on women leaders’ identity work. The paper also revisited traditional leadership approaches and learning tools, and identifies how they might be adapted to reflect women’s specific experiences and needs better.

Professor Ibarra is Academic Director of LBS’s Women in Leadership Executive Education programme.
