Alex Edmans named WFA Vice-President-Elect
Alex Edmans, Professor of Finance at London Business School, has been appointed Vice-President-Elect of the Western Finance Association (WFA) for 2023-24.
The role will see Professor Edmans serve on the WFA’s Executive Committee and assume the position of WFA President in 2026-27.
The WFA is one of the world’s leading associations in the field of finance. Established in 1965, the professional society focusses on the development and application of finance research. Its Western Finance Association Annual Meeting is considered among the most prestigious large-scale conferences in the profession.
Reflecting on his appointment, Professor Edmans said: “I began attending the WFA Annual Meeting the summer before I started as an assistant professor. I have always found it a fantastic environment to present, hear, and discuss research, both inside and outside the sessions. One of my most productive long-standing co-authorships started from a conversation during a WFA coffee break. I am honoured to be invited to give back to the Association by serving on its Executive Committee.”
In addition to his position at the WFA, Professor Edmans is a Director of the American Finance Association, and Academic Director and Chair of the Ethics Committee of the Financial Management Association.
He was formerly a Director of the Financial Intermediation Research Society and on the Executive Committee of the European Finance Association.
