London Business School has welcomed 10 new businesses to its Incubator programme which is now entering its seventh year.
The Incubator, which has already helped 57 companies that have raised £12 million pounds and created more than 150 jobs to-date, received a record number of applications, up 10 per cent from last year.
The Incubator programme helps promising entrepreneurs launch their business venture. Jane Khedair, Head of Entrepreneurship, Career Centre, London Business School, explains: “The Incubator makes the following available: dedicated free office space, an extensive programme of support from a number of professional service firms and strategic input and mentoring from Deloitte, our sponsors.”
As part of the School’s Incubator community, our flagship for entrepreneurship, the ventures benefit from the School’s brand, and access to the knowledge and expertise of its faculty and alumni.”
The value of the programme is estimated at more than £150,000 per business over the course of the year.
The successful businesses are from a broad range of industries including finance, retail, philanthropy, automotive and food and beverages. Tom Haywood, CEO of Autorose (MBA 2015), said: “We are very excited to be a part of the LBS Incubator. The brand, resources and network of LBS will be invaluable to helping our goal of increasing the transparency of vehicle ownership.” Autorose is a predictive vehicle maintenance platform.
Eduardo Clavijo, CEO of Rocket Smoothies (Sloan 2015), said: “The LBS brand will be extremely beneficial to Rocket Smoothies and we hope to positively reinforce that brand through the success of our venture.”
Ryan Kruger, CEO of PoundWise (MiF2013), added: “Having an office on campus as well as the backing of the school will enable me to connect with researchers and professionals whom I would not be able to reach otherwise. I am thrilled to be a part of the community.” PoundWise is technology platform which makes individuals aware of the effects of their financial decisions and personalises results.
The new businesses will be formally welcomed at the Founders Award event on 22 November 2016.
