London Business School is pleased to announce that François Ortalo-Magné is to become the new Dean of the School, effective 1 August 2017. Ortalo-Magné will succeed Sir Andrew Likierman who has been Dean since 2008 and who steps down on 31 July 2017, returning to his previous role as a member of faculty.
François Ortalo-Magné will be the ninth Dean in the School’s 51-year history. Ortalo-Magné, currently Dean of the Wisconsin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will bring inspiring leadership, innovative thinking and a global outlook to the role.
Commenting on his appointment, Ortalo-Magné said: “I am delighted to be joining London Business School, an institution with an enviable reputation as one of the world’s leading business schools. It has achieved so much in its short 50 year history and I’m excited by the prospect of leading the School to even greater success as it embarks on its next 50 years.”
The Hon Apurv Bagri, Chairman of London Business School’s Governing Body and Managing Director of Metdist Group, said: “We are thrilled that François will be joining us next year. During his time at Wisconsin he has demonstrated an ability to grow and strengthen faculty, raise substantial funds, improve the student experience and enhance the organisation’s brand. He is ideally placed to take us forward and build on the great work that Sir Andrew Likierman has achieved. London Business School goes from strength to strength and I’m confident that François will continue to enhance its reputation for academic excellence and the delivery of world class degree and executive education programmes.”
Sir Andrew Likierman, Dean, added: “I would just like to add my congratulations to François on his appointment. I and the rest of my colleagues in the School community will give him a warm welcome when he joins next summer.”
