Vincent Yao (he/him)

Education: Bachelors, Beihang University, China; graduated in 2024

Subject: Automation Science with Economics

Sector(s) of interest: Investment Banking, Consulting, Technology

My greatest challenge when I applied to business school: Preparing for the GMAT exam while managing a high-intensity investment banking internship.

About me: I completed my bachelors in Automation Science at Beihang University, graduating in the top 2% and earning the China National Scholarship. I also pursued a minor in Economics at the National School of Development, Peking University. In addition, I have summer school experience at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and at Baruch College in the US.

Professionally, I’ve gained hands-on experience through internships at Huatai United Securities and Guotai Junan Securities, where I contributed to significant M&A and IPO projects. My role at Boston Consulting Group further allowed me to hone my analytical skills through involvement in due diligence and market-entry projects, deepening my understanding of strategic consulting. During my internship as a Summer Management Trainee at Baidu, I had the opportunity to work on projects related to artificial intelligence generated content (AIGC). This experience allowed me to contribute to cutting-edge AI developments, expanding my expertise in technology and its applications in business.

Outside academics, I served as President of the Beihang Consulting and Investment Banking Club, organising workshops and implementing a mentor– mentee system to guide fellow students.

My career goal is to leverage my technical and financial expertise in consulting or investment banking.

Three topics I can be approached for: Application tips; career development; LBS life.
