My greatest challenge when I applied to business school: Studying for the GMAT.

About me: I was born and raised in Mexico, to Mexican and British parents. This gave me a global outlook from a young age. My desire to experience the world beyond my own background led me to study in the UK, Austria and Russia.

I currently manage an SME in Finland, where I oversee day-to-day operations and lead a turnaround strategy. This role has strengthened my management, strategy and financial skills, which I hope to use alongside my international experience to build a career with global impact.

I’m especially interested in consulting, but I’m also curious about roles that help me develop professionally. Long term, my goal is to apply these learnings to the social impact sector, where I can use my skills to help those who need it most.

I applied to the GMiM programme at LBS because it provided access to a truly diverse cohort, further practical experience and exposure to an entirely new country for me – China. I see China as crucial to understand, in both business and international development settings, especially with the current shift in global dynamics. I’m currently learning Mandarin and preparing for my second year at Fudan, an experience I’m sure will shape my future.

Three topics I can be approached about: Applying to LBS with your partner; application essays; choosing the GMiM over the MiM.
