Lewis O’Neill (he/him)

Education: Bachelors, University of Exeter, UK; graduated in 2024

Subject: History

Sector(s) of interest: Investment Banking, Asset Management

My greatest challenge when I applied to business school: Getting back into my quantitative work for the GMAT after completing a three-year History degree.

About me: I grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland. Prior to joining the MFA programme at LBS, I was a History student at the University of Exeter, UK. During my undergraduate degree, I covered modern history with an emphasis on the Holocaust. My dissertation was on Irish republicanism in Scotland.

I have acquired professional experience in finance modelling, asset management and wealth management in Edinburgh, Scotland. I am eager to pursue my career in banking after completing my masters at LBS. Ideally, I will be working in London or back home in Scotland. I am actively applying to top banks within the UK.

I have a strong passion for the real estate, energy and technology sectors, especially from an advisory perspective. I am confident LBS will help me build and develop key skills in a theoretical capacity as well as in a practical sense, while also allowing me to expand my network and meet excellent people.

In my free time, you can find me playing rugby with the LBS Hawaiians in Regent’s Park or out and about with friends. I love travelling and spent several months travelling in Australia and Indonesia before coming to LBS.

Three topics I can be approached about: Process for UK nationals; the Rugby Club; applying from a non-finance related degree.
