My greatest challenge when I applied to business school: Maintaining confidence that my professional interests would be welcomed.
About me: Growing up between Japan and Canada, I’ve always had an international perspective and a macro desire to understand how the world works. My undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia enabled me to explore this further – my major in Global Supply Chain and Logistics Management led me to study in Denmark and China. I also participated in incredible impact-driven initiatives like Canada’s Propel Impact Consulting Fellowship and facilitating classes on business fundamentals for entrepreneurs in Nairobi, Kenya.
I also completed four internships in diverse roles and industries, ranging from leading process transformations at a climate tech manufacturer to consulting at KPMG in Toronto. After graduating, I worked for a year managing operations at Susgrainable, an incredible social enterprise startup whose founder I had previously interviewed for a podcast.
I realised after graduating that I was ready to pick up a more technical skillset, explore a new geography and tackle more complex challenges. London was an obvious choice as a global commerce hub and cultural centre, and I was a good fit for the MAM programme at LBS. I’m eager to explore opportunities in supply chain strategy and analytics while I’m here.
Three topics I can be approached about: Managing internships; life at LBS; music.
