My greatest challenge when I applied to business school: Taking a gap year and reapplying to my dream school, LBS!
About me: I obtained my undergraduate degree from Zhejiang University, majoring in Japanese Language and Literature with additional studies in Finance and Korean. This multilingual and multicultural background not only strengthened my language skills but also gave me a broad and integrated cultural perspective. I have found this perspective especially valuable in business research, where I often draw on it to analyse markets and contribute unique insights to my teams.
Professionally, I have worked across strategy and investment in the consumer and retail sector. In previous roles at two leading internet companies, I supported monetisation strategy development and contributed to product strategy in the gaming division. Later, as an investment intern at several private equity firms, I participated in high-profile consumer investment deals, conducting due diligence to evaluate market opportunities and support investment decisions.
Beyond academics and work, I served as president of the Student Union in the School of International Studies at Zhejiang University and as vice president of the university’s Unilever Club, where I organised student initiatives and built connections with corporate partners.
Looking ahead, I aspire to build a career in consulting, specialising in consumer, retail and luxury goods, where I can combine strategic experience with cultural insight to help global clients capture growth opportunities.
In my spare time, I enjoy artistic gymnastics and tennis and playing the violin.
Three topics I can be approached about: East Asian culture; unconventional career suggestions; application tips.
