Aytekin Ertan’s research examines how changes in accounting practices and regulation shape decision‑making in the banking sector and, in turn, alleviate or exacerbate market frictions. His work focuses on financial accounting and corporate finance issues related to financial intermediation, disclosure, banking regulation, monetary policy, debt contracting, corporate and SME financing, and securitisation. His research has appeared in leading journals including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies and Review of Financial Studies.
At London Business School, Aytekin is an active contributor to accounting education and professional development, teaching on the EMBA, MBA and PhD programmes, as well as a wide range of Executive Education courses. He also sits on the editorial boards of The Accounting Review, Review of Accounting Studies and Contemporary Accounting Research, and serves as a frequent referee for other leading journals in accounting, banking, and finance.
Aytekin began his career as an engineer and banker after completing his engineering degree and MBA at Bilkent University, gaining practical experience in financial and technical roles before pursuing his MA and PhD at Yale University. He joined London Business School in 2014 as an Assistant Professor, was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2022, and now serves as PhD Coordinator for the Accounting Subject Area and Academic Director of the M&A Executive Education Programme.
