Dr. Marcela Carvalho's research interests focus on the intersection of behavioural finance, gender economics, and innovation within the primary fields of finance, accounting, and entrepreneurship. As an expert in textual analysis, she applies this methodology to explore how behavioural factors influence financial decisions, the economic implications of gender, and the role of innovation in business practices. Her research has been published in The Quarterly Journal of Economics, establishing her as a contributor to leading academic discourse in her field.

Dr. Carvalho is committed to developing the next generation of finance and accounting professionals at London Business School, where she joined as an Assistant Professor of Accounting. Her academic journey began with a BA in Economics from the School of Economics, Business and Accounting at the University of São Paulo, followed by a master's degree in Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. She completed her doctoral studies in Business Economics at Harvard University, where she developed her expertise in behavioural finance and textual analysis methodologies that now inform her research and teaching.
