Dr Marcela Carvalho joins London Business School as an Assistant Professor of Accounting from Harvard University, where she was a doctoral student.

Dr Carvalho's research interests focus on the intersection of behavioural finance, gender economics, and innovation within the primary fields of finance, accounting, and entrepreneurship. As an expert in textual analysis, Dr Carvalho applies this methodology to explore how behavioural factors influence financial decisions, the economic implications of gender, and the role of innovation in business practices. Her research has been published in, The Quarterly Journal of Economics.

Dr Carvalho began her academic career with a BA in Economics from the School of Economics, Business and Accounting at the University of Sao Paulo, followed by a master’s degree in Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro before she completed her PhD in Business Economics at Harvard University.
