Kumar Birla MBA33(1992) is chairman of the US$41 billion multinational Aditya Birla Group and all its major companies, ranging from aluminium and copper to telecoms, financial services and retail. The group operates in 36 countries across six continents.
Away from his work commitments, Birla is chancellor of the Birla Institute of Technology & Science; chairman of Rhodes India Scholarship Committee and of IIT Delhi; and director of the G. D. Birla Medical Research and Education Foundation.
Birla has been nominated for and won several awards for his leadership and contribution to business, including the International Advertising Association’s CEO of the Year Award 2016, and honorary member, Rotary Club of Mumbai (November 2014). He also received the Global Leadership Award (US India Business Council) in 2014.
