Cancer: you could be the cure
Between 30% and 70% of patients who get stem cell treatment survive. Most of us are one or two people removed from someone who needs it.
When Natalie was seven, she was diagnosed with Leukaemia.
When she was treated, it went away. Then it came back.
It was time for stem cell therapy. Stem cell therapy works, but the donor has to be a histologic match. Her parents and brother weren’t. After launching a worldwide search for the right donor, they found one. But it didn’t work. Natalie didn’t make it.
After hearing Natalie’s story, London Business School student Kelly Price decided to become a stem cell donor herself. Working in the field of oncology, she was aware that even the best new cancer drugs extend people’s lives by months, not years.
