Schools alumni and friends awarded New Years Honours

Ten London Business School alumni and friends have been recognised for their achievements in the New Year's Honours for 2014.

 

Two alumni have been made Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE): Cressida Hogg MBA1995, Managing Partner, 3i, for services to infrastructure investment and policy; and  Nigel Annett MSc16(1983), Managing Director, Welsh Water, for services to the water industry in Wales and voluntary service to Wateraid.

Three further alumni have received honours. Dennis Overton YPGB06, who is Chairman of Aquascot, was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to the economy in Alness and Rwanda. Janet Rubin MSc20(1986), who is an Independent Member of the Competition Service and Competition Appeal Tribunal, was awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to industry and public sector bodies, while Dr Andrew Palmer ADP39(2001), Executive Vice-President, Nissan Japan, received the Companion of the Order of St Michael & St George (CMG) for services to the British automotive industry.

Three previous participants on the School’s executive education programmes have also been honoured. Nicholas Winser, Executive Director, UK National Grid, received a CBE for services to the UK energy industry, Dr Anne Wozencraft, former Head of Education, British Council, was given an OBE for services to British education overseas and Dr Colette Bowe, Chair of Ofcom, was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) for services to media and communications.

In addition, former member of the Governing Body and long-term supporter of the School Francis Finlay, now Chair of the American Friends of the British Museum, has been awarded a CMG for services to cultural and educational philanthropy, and a former faculty member, Professor John Kay, has been awarded a CBE for services to Economics.
