Six of London Business School’s newest intake of MBA students take centre stage in a deep dive piece by Clear Admit, which offers insight into the backgrounds and aspirations of our current students.

The students profiled are Alexander Russell, Dr. Arun Banerji, Dan Yates, Joanne Ngotho, Mai Nguyen and Nasreem Begum.

Alexander, a professional rugby player and former captain of the Canadian National Sevens Team, picked LBS for its location, diversity and the depth of support and collaboration within the LBS community.

Arun, a medical doctor and army reservist, was particularly drawn by the flexibility of LBS’s modular course. He feels this flexibility will allow him to shape the experience to meet his goal of moving into a broader role in shaping healthcare.

Dan, co-Founder of climate tech start-up Greener, has joined LBS’ inaugural One-year MBA class to broaden his perspective, develop additional skills, and strengthen his credentials as he seeks to move towards the investor side of the tech ecosystem.

Kenyan running enthusiast Joanne chose LBS because it offers a passport to perspectives from every corner of the globe. She wants to play a role in shaping sustainable growth and driving initiatives that create opportunities in emerging markets.

Mai, from Vietnam, is looking to deepen her global exposure and broaden her network as she plans to use her MBA to focus on strategy/management consulting, as well as potential entrepreneurial opportunities.

Nasreem’s decision to join LBS was shaped by the School’s strong employer relationships and comprehensive career support. She is looking to accelerate a move into a more strategic role, helped by London’s position as a consulting and technology hub.

Three key pieces of advice for prospective students:

  • Start GMAT/GRE prep early

  • Start essays well in advance

  • Reach out to current and former LBS students for invaluable insight into what life is really like on campus and help with your application.
