London Business School students receive AQR Scholar Awards
Masters in Finance students Charles Boissé and Stefano Filippi, received their AQR Scholar Awards at the Masters in Finance Final Dinner at Madame Tussauds in London on 12 July. Executive MBA (EMBA) student Paolo Pio received his award the following day at the EMBA programme’s end of year event, Capstone.
The awards, which recognise outstanding academic performance and include a prize of £10,000, were presented by Stephen Schaefer, Professor of Finance and Academic Director, AQR Asset Management Institute, London Business School and Scott Richardson, Managing Director, AQR Capital Management and Professor of Management Practice in Accounting, London Business School.
Stephen Schaefer, Professor of Finance and Academic Director, AQR Asset Management Institute, London Business School, said: “We are delighted to present the AQR Scholar Award to these three outstanding students. As well as achieving excellent academic performance, they have all contributed significantly to the London Business School community through their involvement in student club activities, demonstrating strong leadership potential, as well as commitment to the asset management industry.”
Award winner Paolo Pio, who is a member of the 2016 EMBA graduating class, said: “I am deeply honoured to receive this award. AQR’s partnership with LBS supports asset management courses with top-level content, all of which is industry relevant, providing an edge to the students just coming to the job market. My background is in engineering and technology, so the EMBA was a unique opportunity to build financial education, investment acumen and build relationships with some of the brightest minds in the field.”

Finalists Fabricio Chala and Ashish Sahay, both Masters in Finance students, were also recognised at the Masters in Finance Final Dinner.
The AQR Scholar Awards are part of a series of prizes awarded by the AQR Asset Management Institute to advance excellence in asset management among students and young researchers.
The AQR Scholar Award for the 2016 MBA programme was presented in March of this year to Andrea Turrini. Finalists Lucy Hancock and Teodor Simeonov were also recognised.
