London Business School professor commended for research

London Business School strategy expert named one of the best scientific minds

Julian Birkinshaw, Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at London Business School has been named as one of the world’s brightest and best scientific minds.

Using its Web of Science and InCites platforms, Thomson Reuters listed Professor Birkinshaw among the 95 economics and business researchers worldwide who have been cited most frequently by their peers over the last 11 years.

Professor Birkinshaw said: “I am delighted to be included in this list – it is great to see my research having an impact across the field of economics and business, and on a global basis.”

The Thomson Reuters report 'The World's Most Influential Scientific Minds 2014', lists some 3,200 individuals who published the greatest number of highly cited papers in one of 21 broad fields from 2002-2012. Their highly cited papers rank in the top 1% of citations for their field and year of publication.

Thomson Reuters said of the researchers: “They are people who are on the cutting edge of their fields. They are performing and publishing work that their peers recognise as vital to the advancement of their science. These researchers are undoubtedly among the most influential scientific minds of our time.”

Professor Jean Tirole from the Toulouse School of Economics who holds an honorary degree from London Business School, is also included in the list of most highly cited economics and business researchers.
