London Business School celebrates 5 years in the Middle East

1417London Business School is celebrating the fifth anniversary of its Dubai Centre and commitment to the education in the region.

Since opening its doors in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) in 2007, over 300 professionals from across the Middle East and further afield have graduated from its Executive MBA programme. Some 53 nationalities have been represented, with students commuting from as far afield as Australia, South Korea and Senegal.

The School also actively works with leading companies in the region, delivering world-class executive education programmes to clients including Saudi Aramco, ADCO and Sabic. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region accounts for its largest client base outside the UK.

The School’s degree and executive education programmes are underpinned by world-class faculty. To mark the anniversary, on Tuesday evening (24 April), Nirmalya Kumar, Professor of Marketing and co-director of the School’s Aditya Birla India Centre will deliver an evening presentation to an audience of regional alumni, corporate guests and students, entitled ‘The Emergence of Growth Economies and Corporate Giants’.

Professor Kumar will be joined by Andrew Scott, Professor of Economics and Deputy Dean, and a specially invited audience at an earlier event, where they will host an in-depth panel discussion on ‘New Markets and New Firms: A Growth Agenda.’

The Executive MBA programme is designed for managers and executives who already have substantial professional experience behind them. The cohort represents a range of exceptional, experienced people who can both contribute to and benefit from the programme.

Graduates of the School have gone on to become leading practitioners across a diverse range of industries, including energy, finance, agriculture, medicine and technology. London Business School alumni are internationally recognised by recruiters as being some of the most sought after graduates of any institution in the world.

Dubai-based Ulrika Hedlund, who graduated from the Executive MBA in 2011, said: “When I first started the EMBA, I thought I would stay at my current company, but throughout the programme I started toying with the idea of setting up my own business. Three months after graduation I resigned and set up my own business. These past few months have been an exciting and rewarding journey and I keep learning and developing every day.

“For me, the EMBA at London Business School has had an enormous impact on my life. I would recommend it to anyone who has the same drive for professional development and thirst for knowledge as I do!”

The programme gives students, who have a strong, proven ability in business management, a thorough grounding in all key areas of business. Executive MBA students can also specialise in their chosen fields through the School’s diverse elective portfolio.

London Business School’s Executive Education team also offers a portfolio of over 30 open programmes as well as custom-designed programmes developed to meet the specific needs of individuals and their organisation. Annually, over 8,000 participants attend executive programmes which are led by many of the world’s leading business thinkers.
