LBS Teaching Fellow receives OBE

Antony Ross recognised for services to social enterprise and social investment in the Queen’s birthday honours list

Antony Ross has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list for his services to social enterprise and social investment.

Ross, a Teaching Fellow in London Business School (LBS)’s Strategy and Entrepreneurship Department, teaches on the increasingly popular Growing Social Enterprises MBA elective.

He said, "It was a lovely surprise and it's great to see the importance of the social sector being recognised and the feedback from the Growing Social Enterprises students shows they are really engaged.”

Ross, an LBS alumnus, is Partner and Head of Social Entrepreneurs Fund at Bridges Fund Management, which focuses on backing investable solutions to social and environmental challenges in health and wellbeing, education and skills, sustainable living and underserved markets.

The company’s ethos is that business should be a force for good. “Addressing big societal challenges by, for example, finding innovative ways to reduce carbon emissions, can also drive strong commercial performance,” he said.

Ross is one of 20 finance executives honoured by the Queen on her birthday in June. Among them is Helena Morrissey, Head of Personal Investing at Legal & General Investment Management, who becomes a Dames Commander of the Order of the British Empire for diversity in financial services.

Mark Boleat, outgoing Chairman at the City of London Corporation, and John Low, Chief Executive of the Charities Aid Foundation, were both knighted.
