London Business School marked an important new step in its long-standing relationship with Saudi Arabia with the opening of its new Executive Education Office in Riyadh. The event, held in the historic setting of Diriyah, brought together senior Saudi officials, government representatives, business leaders, alumni and partners to celebrate a milestone in the School’s work in the Kingdom.

From the outset, the atmosphere reflected both warmth and purpose. The scent of cardamom coffee carried through the courtyard, while the cooling taste of mint tea in delicate cups was served alongside tart pomegranate juice in glass goblets. Conversations among guests shared a common theme: a recognition that this opening represents more than a new location. It signals a deepening commitment to developing leadership and knowledge at a pivotal moment for the country.

LBS's Dean Sergei Guriev emphasised the importance of the opening in his speech, observing that “LBS is proud to support the Kingdom’s investment in people, realising the transformation and the Kingdom’s next phase of sustainable and knowledge-driven growth”, underlining the significance LBS places on Saudi Arabia’s ambition and its investment in people. The Dean further reflected on the School’s belief that the Kingdom’s transformation will be shaped not only by economic shifts but by the leadership capacity of organisations and individuals across the country.

The opening was also attended by H.E. Dr. Eiman Al-Mutairi, Vice Minister of Commerce, alongside representatives of the British Embassy and leaders from key Saudi organisations including Diriyah Company, SABIC and BSF. Their presence highlighted the depth of partnership between the School and institutions across the Kingdom, built over more than a decade of Executive Education collaboration. Participation from Saudi executives has grown markedly during this period, including a notable rise in women leaders taking part, reflecting a broader momentum toward inclusive leadership development.

As the evening progressed, traditional drums drew the room together in a moment of shared rhythm and energy. This special atmosphere experienced by the gathered guests captured the sense of unity, anticipation and purpose that defined the event. Many remarked that the occasion felt like one that would be long remembered in the School’s history.

With the opening of its Riyadh office, LBS reinforces its commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s continued investment in human capital and knowledge-driven growth. The warmth of the celebration and the significance of the moment combined to signal a confident beginning to the next phase of the School’s work in the Kingdom.
