IIE Founder Awards winners revealed
LBS announces the alumni ventures that will receive support from the School over the next 10 months
Eleven alumni-run businesses have been selected for the 2017–18 London Business School (LBS) Incubator programme.
On 9 November, the LBS graduates chosen to develop their start-ups on the programme were celebrated at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IIE) Founder Awards. The winners range from a global network for business and university students to meet over dinner, to a children’s book company that produces personalised stories using augmented reality.
“We have an exceptionally diverse group of new ventures this year,” said Jeff Skinner, Executive Director of the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
“What unites them is a conviction to develop businesses that address real consumer pain points. More than any other year, I’ve been impressed with the quality of the founders and the thinking and testing that’s gone into their ideas before they have even joined the Incubator programme.”
Other ventures picked for the 2017–18 programme include a crepe and waffle restaurant, a medical service for people in the UK to access GPs online and a digital platform for storing and safeguarding personal assets such as life insurance and wills.

The companies chosen for the 10-month programme will receive professional support from expert industry practitioners, mentors and investors, access to training and workshops and office space at LBS’s London campus.
They will also be invited to the Enterprise 100 Annual Dinner, a members-only event where entrepreneurs can network with angel investors and businesspeople. Enterprise 100 is LBS’s angel investor network, launched more than 15 years ago to shape the future of entrepreneurship.
