AQR Institute honours rising scholar in asset management
Fourth annual Fellowship Award recognises academic and research excellence

The AQR Asset Management Institute (AQRAMI) has chosen Ishita Sen, a PhD candidate in finance from London Business School (LBS), for the AQR Fellowship Award 2018.
Sen has been recognised for her study into the distortionary effects of regulation on risk management.
The award, which comes with a £10,000 prize, was established by the AQRAMI to recognise an outstanding PhD student who demonstrates intellectual rigour, academic excellence and innovation.
This year’s award was presented at the 2018 Insight Summit: Addressing Behavioural Biases in Investing, by one of the Institute’s academic directors, Anna Pavlova, Professor of Finance at LBS. She was joined by Scott Richardson, Principal and Portfolio Manager at AQR Capital Management and Professor of Management Practice in Accounting at LBS.
Commenting on the award, Sen said: “Receiving the AQR Fellowship Award is a great honour for me and I’m extremely grateful to the AQRAMI for its generous support, both through the Fellowship and through its research grants.
“Without the Institute’s support in acquiring the data, this project would have never got off the ground. I want to thank everyone involved with the Institute for enabling young scholars at LBS to pursue excellence in their research.”
Sen has received AQRAMI research grants for her work on institutional pricing of corporate bonds and limits to risk management.
Professor Stephen Schaefer said: “Ishita’s work on the distortionary effects of regulation on risk management is brilliantly executed and the results have importance for many parts of the financial system. The scale and complexity of the data that Ishita needed to assemble to undertake this study are formidable and, overall, her paper is a real tour de force.”

The AQR Fellowship Award is one of a series of accolades established by the AQRAMI to recognise and advance excellence in asset management among rising scholars and future industry leaders.
