World Economic Forum - 1140x346

London Business School Professor of Finance Alex Edmans has been appointed to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Future Council on the Future of Responsible Investing.

The council, part of WEF’s wider network of Global Future Councils, acts as an advisory body for government, business and civil leaders, advising on what constitutes responsible investing in today’s landscape. Membership to the council is on an invitation-only business and members typically serve two-year terms. The council contains 17 members and Professor Edmans is one of only two academics.

Professor Edmans is a leading expert in corporate finance, responsible business and behavioural finance. His 2020 book Grow the pie: how great companies deliver both purpose and profit was a Financial Times book of the year. He serves on the Steering Group of The Purposeful Company, a UK consortium of leaders in responsible business and on Royal London Asset Management’s Responsible Investment Advisory Committee.

Professor Edmans said: “Responsible investing has the potential to create not only long-term financial value, but also social value by addressing some of the world’s biggest challenges. I am delighted to join the council and work with a diverse mix of leading practitioners to ensure that this potential is realised.”

The Global Future Council on the Future of Responsible Investing is Co-Chaired by Beatriz Pessoa de Araujo, Partner, Head, Corporate Governance, Baker McKenzie and Clara Chan, Executive Director, Monetary Management, Hong Kong Monetary Authority.
