LBS faculty to oversee major academic journal
Lakshmanan (Shiva) Shivakumar, Lord David Sainsbury of Turville Professor and Professor of Accounting at London Business School (LBS), has been appointed Managing Editor of the Review of Accounting Studies (RAST) journal.
A leading journal in its field, RAST provides an outlet for significant academic research in accounting, including theoretical, empirical and experimental work. The journal is committed to the principle that distinctive scholarship is rigorous. While the editors encourage all forms of research, it must contribute to the discipline of accounting.
Professor Shivakumar said: "It is a privilege to have been asked to be the Managing Editor of RAST. In the past, publishing research articles in this prestigious journal was exciting enough, but now being asked to lead this journal is an incredible opportunity. I look forward to continuing the journal's growth and supporting research that makes important contributions to the accounting field. I am also delighted that the shift of RAST's home to LBS greatly boosts the school's visibility amongst accounting researchers worldwide."
LBS Accounting Subject Area Manager Debbie Hughes said the journal was usually hosted by the Managing Editor’s academic institution for a minimum three-year period.
“I am delighted to say that Professor Shivakumar has agreed to take over the role of Managing Editor, allowing LBS to host the journal for at least the next three years. This is a high honour in the world of accounting research and we are excited that Professor Shivakumar’s expertise has allowed the journal to come to LBS.”
RAST is owned and published four times a year by Springer. Each autumn, the journal holds its Review of Accounting Studies Conference; the 2023 iteration will take place at the University of Cambridge.
