Dr Ioannou receives ‘Top cited paper’ award from Wiley

London Business School congratulates Dr Ioannis Ioannou for his 'Top cited paper' award from publisher Wiley.

The award was given for Dr Ioannou’s research article, ‘Strategic management during the financial crisis: How firms adjust their strategic investments in response to credit market disruptions’, Strategic Management Journal, 29 December 2020.

Co-authored with Caroline Flammer, Professor of International and Public Affairs and of Climate, Columbia SIPA, the paper "generated an immediate impact in the community".

This study investigates how companies adjusted their investments in key strategic resources—that is, their workforce, capital expenditures, R&D, and CSR—in response to the sharp increase in the cost of credit (the “credit crunch”) during the financial crisis of 2007–2009.

On receiving the award, Dr Ioannou said, “I am incredibly honoured to share that my work with Caroline Flammer in Strategic Management Journal (SMJ) has been recognised as one of the top-cited papers and generated an immediate impact in the community.”
