About me: Born in Maceió, Brazil, Luiz spent his career in São Paulo in the finance industry. He completed a BSc in Physics at the University of São Paulo and a PhD in Physics at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee in less than three years. He later pursued a Professional Masters in Economics – Quantitative Finance at the Fundação Getulio Vargas, São Paulo School of Economics.

Luiz never lost his love for research and teaching. Eventually, he became a professor at São Paulo School of Business Administration, Fundação Getulio Vargas, when he was only 25 years old, a position he held until coming to LBS.

In addition, prior to LBS, he worked as a Quantitative Investment Manager at SulAmérica Investments, an independent firm with £10 billion AUM, creating systematic trading strategies and models.
He decided to pursue an MBA to improve his leadership and management skills and to get exposure to a major financial market.

Luiz loves spending time with his family. He also likes to read, practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and explore new locations to learn about their history. London just happens to be the perfect place for that!
