Education: BSc Physics, National University of Singapore, Singapore; graduated in 2012

Pre-MBA industry: Technology

Pre-MBA role: Market Lead, Facebook

Clubs: Tech & Media Club (Executive Committee – Chief of Staff)

About me: Ken studied Physics at National University of Singapore. He found himself to be a misfit with the programme due to its strong focus on academia as opposed to real world application. In response, Ken sought opportunities to expose himself to various career tracks. Inspired by Scott D Anthony to seek a career in management consulting, Ken refocused his electives and energy on strategy, earning an internship at a consulting firm. He eventually spent five years advising on strategy for government and public sector clients, specialising in public-private partnerships in economic growth.

After acquiring complex strategic planning skills, Ken now looked to develop expertise in strategy execution. This keen interest brought him into the tech sector, firstly as the regional lead for data and strategy for Southeast Asia in Alibaba Group, and next as the market lead for Philippines at Facebook. In both roles, Ken gained the opportunity to manage large teams and to operationalise global strategic plans involving multiple cross-functional partners.

Ken’s stint at Facebook in Dublin frequently brought him across the Irish Sea to London, where he got to know several LBS alumni and students. Hearing about the LBS programme, Ken found that it aligned considerably with his learning objectives and personal goals. Ken is Chief of Staff for the Tech and Media club.
