A desire for meaningful change

“Quite simply, I wouldn’t be where I am now if I hadn’t come to London Business School. I was introduced to Reload Greece (RG), a London-based UK-registered educational charity, through the School’s Hellenic club. The company’s mission is to support entrepreneurs to develop ventures that have a positive social and economic impact in their home countries. I find this hugely inspiring."

“Founded in 2012 by five Greek students living in London, RG supports the revival of the Greek economy and encourages young, highly-skilled Greeks of the diaspora to give back to their home country through their innovative ventures. So far, more than 130 ventures have been accelerated, more than £5m investment has been raised by participating startups and more than 210 new jobs have been created".

“While I was studying on the EMBA I started to develop a wellbeing initiative called MeTime, which I still run. I pitched MeTime and the benefits it could bring to the working environment at RG’s Young Entrepreneurs Programme. A while later, they began advertising for a new Chief Executive Officer and invited me to interview."

“According to the feedback I received, I was offered the CEO role because of the added value of my LBS EMBA, my wealth of experience growing and leading teams and my passion for entrepreneurship."

“I’ve been in finance, asset management, and credit rating agencies since the beginning of my career, so it’s incredibly exciting to take on such a different role. But I always knew that I wanted a new direction - one that was broader, more meaningful and impactful than just creating new revenue streams."

“I’ve always been interested in leadership, strategy, technology and innovation and after nine years at Moody’s, I realised I’d hit a wall."

“I’d held senior positions leading international teams of more than 50 people, but I never really had the freedom to make my own mark - even when I was at Moody’s working in product development and innovation, launching new products and developing new revenue streams for the credit ratings business."

“RG’s scope and network of people is wide and its social and economic impact is significant. I’m delighted that my experience and the network and knowledge I gained at LBS can add value to Reload Greece as the organisation enters its next phase of development."

“Commiting to the EMBA, an exciting but intensive and demanding programme, was initially a scary thought process, especially given that I’d previously lacked support for personal ventures. But the mentoring and encouragement, especially from other women at the School was instrumental in putting me at ease.”

Collaborative culture

“London Business School’s influence in building and fostering connections and collaborations cannot be underestimated. It’s an extraordinary network. I’ve had access to incredible mentors, including the ex-CEO of PureGym. Many faculty are internationally-regarded and well-known authors. The 100-year Life: Living and Working in an Age of Longevity, written by professors Andrew Scott and Lynda Gratton has won international prizes for its broad and thoughtful analysis of longevity across the world."

“Another inspirational book is Alive at Work: The Neuroscience of Helping Your People Love What They Do by Daniel M. Cable."

“Reload Greece will host its thought leadership annual conference in October – a key event attracting an international audience of government ministers C-level executives, business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors and academics. A number of LBS professors are Reload Greece’s long-term conference advisors, so faculty often participate as panellists or moderators."

“Through the School’s network, we have attracted international and high-profile guest speakers and delegates. In 2018, we had 330 delegates, more than 660 people watched live via the live stream and the livestream videos have had more than 8,500 views. In 2019, through the collaborations we have fostered, we aim to increase the event’s impact and reach even more.
“LBS’s Dean, François Ortalo-Magné, calls this the multiplier effect of the School: creating new networks, relationships and opportunities through existing ones. He encourages students to aim high, and then higher still. He’s a great ambassador for the School, both inspirational and approachable."

“I will definitely be an active alumna. Following the suggestions and feedback I gave to the School around ways to increase revenue, I know a new Executive Education programme on Board Effectiveness is being developed."

“I am really proud of what London Business School stands for and I am delighted to have been chosen to share my story.”

“I’m delighted that my experience and the network and knowledge I gained at LBS can add value to Reload Greece.”
